Late last week, we asked the State of Arkansas permission to erect a “seven-foot tall, purple-glitter painted, rainbow gay inspired, disco-ball glowing 2015 Gay Pride Festivus Pole on the Capitol Grounds.”
After returning back the completed application to Ms. Susan Carter, Assistant Director of Communications and Education Division, we reached out (via email) to Presidential Candidate and Friend of the Gay Mike Huckabee for assistance.
My name is Chaz Stevens, Executive Director for The Humanity Fund, an advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and promoting freedom of speech and religion.
Today, we’ve applied to the State of Arkansas, seeking permission to erect a seven-foot tall, purple-glitter painted, rainbow gay inspired, disco-ball glowing 2015 Gay Pride Festivus Pole on the Capitol Grounds. Along with Arkansas, we’re going to jubilantly celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court decision making same-sex marriage a constitutional right by installing Gay Pride Festivus Poles in state capitals nationwide.
Perhaps, you’ll remember two years ago, when we installed a Festivus Pole, made from 16 Pabst Blue Ribbon cans, in the Florida Capitol. Thanks to your colleague Gretchen Carlson, an international media frenzy ensued, with segments airing on The Colbert Report, Daily Show, and hundreds of media outlets.
We also launched the 2015 Gay Pride Festivus Pole Generosity Fund, with donations to support LGBT youth struggling with bullying and harassment.
We’d love for your hometown support, perhaps you’d be kind enough to put in a good word for us.
Happy Festivus 2015
